During such an amazing American holiday, we don’t often take the time to consider how this holiday makes our European brothers and sisters feel. I wonder if this is how Diane feels every year? And yes, she did threaten to bring a British t-shirt to our 4th of July BBQ.
Speaking of good eats, I don’t have the results of those recipes I posted last week cause I haven’t cooked them yet! Jeeeeeesh people, wait till Wednesday (or check my twitter as I’ll post something later tonight) and I’ll have a report for you. If you made some of these amazing items, let me know so I can share your story!
If you’re in America, enjoy your long holiday. The rest of the world… why don’t you take the day off as well? Everyone loves long weekends.

Thought this one was great. Funny I feel there is a hint of stone soup in this strip.
Hope you had a great fourth!

There is a lot of Stone Soup in this one. Along with reading Calvin and Hobbes lately, I’ve also picked up Jane Elliots work as well. Both are great with turning the everyday into something to smile about.
As for the 4th, it was great! A little rough with the whole Monday thing but a day off to relax is a day off to relax.
Well the way I look at it, those British living in the US should be glad to celebrate along with us. Just imagine how strapped your country would be if they were still picking up our financial bill right now,
not to mention the nice extended weekend you get from being here in the US and an excuse to blow things up.
My boys are 3 and 5 and the oldest has really come into this bravery of fireworks and has definitely absorbed his dad’s thrill of blowing things up, my youngest however is still very much on the fence about it all. He enjoys it, don’t get me wrong, but he’s not about to be there at ground zero as I light up a string of blackcats like his older brother will be.
Hope you and yours had a very fun and Happy 4th of July.

Ha ha, I’ll have to tell Diane that. Oh those British, always sulking over past losses.
As for the boys, I’m assuming everyone made it out in one piece? As a parent, I found that I’m always worried about that now. Holding onto the fireworks too long, exploding in their faces, cuts, burns, you name it. Of course, I’m always setting a bad example cause I’m the one lighting the fireworks. Just lead by example I say.
Our 4th was great and I’m excited for the day when my daughter is old enough to participate, even if it’s just to hold a sparkler. Hope you had a good holiday as well out in the country with lots of room and a good BBQ.
