Hello everybody!

If you stopped by yesterday and noticed that there was no comic up then I apologize for that one. My original plan was to fix this issue today but… well… life happens.

So this week I am preparing for a fancy business meeting that’s taking place out town. I’m going to be traveling all day Thursday and coming back home sometime late Saturday. I don’t normally take business trips (as I am a freelance graphic designer) but sometimes you just have to do it.

Rather then attempt to cram in comics on top of packing and preparing for this trip I’ve decided to just shelf the comic for this week and focus on my money making task at hand.

Not that I’m particularly nervous for this meeting but it is important and I want to be mentally and physically ready for it. That means no late night comics, no getting sick and most importantly, no waiting till the last minute and stressing over stupid things.

Having said that, I will be back on track next week as my next out of town business meeting will take place in the far distant future. But don’t worry, I’ll give you more of a heads up next time.

It’s really hard to argue with a child in their terrible twos, especially when all the data supports their claim.

So I’m currently working on sneaking my way into Portland’s Stumptown Comicfest. There is a person I’m talking with who is willing to split a table with me. I just need to work out some final details but if all goes as planned… Yeah, to say that I’m a little excited is an understatement.

Don’t let anyone try to fool you. While the terrible twos traditionally start “around the age of 2″, it is not unheard of that it starts as early at 18 months or as late as 30 months (or not at all). Right about now, Anna is 20 months old and makes her a prime candidate for the terrible twos, as as we saw earlier, her understanding of the world and her role in it is already being challenged.

Why do I know so much about the terrible twos? Because my daughter is smack dab in the middle of them. And I get to live with her 24/7. That’s hour. Of everyday. Yeah, that’s a lot of terrible.

Oh man…. I’m getting all worked up just thinking about being a stay-at-home dad with my terrible two daughter. Quick, think of something calming yet amazing…

Hello and welcome to a special Saturday edition of Plus One!

I just wanted to post this Harley Quinn picture that I finished last night. It’s part of my Super Hero parents series which also includes Batman, Wonder Woman, Sinestro and Optimus Prime (yeah, I know Optimus isn’t a super hero, but he still looks cool!).

I’d also like to point out that my comic I made for F My Life posted today. That’s right, I did an awesome comic for FML and it’s getting all sorts of attention. Go check it out here.

Hope you enjoy today’s comic even if it has a heavy hand to it. I realized that I haven’t really touched much on Desmon’s father who we found out is daed waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the beginning of the series. I’ve been rather down this week so I feel like this comic fits in really well with my mood. I’m a bit off, a bit grumpy and kind of on the depressed side. Don’t worry, life has almost picked itself back up but with the car troubles, not getting a booth at Stumptown and general daily anxiety, it was getting rough. But enough of that… this strip is also strange because it doesn’t feature Desmon, Violet or Anna. Something that rarely happens around here.

I’m almost done with the Harley piece as of this writting but I’m not sure when I’ll call it 100% complete. Make sure to check the blog because I’ll most likely post it there when I finished. Hopefully soon, I just need to be less picky with it.

Oh, and I decided that the hand drawn text just wasn’t cutting it. It seemed rather redundent and out of style with the rest of the comic. I’m going to switch fonts soon, I just need to find one that I like.

As you can probably tell by now, there isn’t going to be a comic today. Various things came up yesterday to fully hamper my comic making time/energy.

In a nut shell – car problems.

It was so bad that Diane and I threw a pity party for ourselves. We had pizza, watched some Lie To Me and generally tried to get in a better state of mind. So why is there no comic today? You ask. Well, that too is simple. You see, I hadn’t written the script prior to Car-magedon and I wanted to do something fun tonight. Not that Plus One isn’t fun, it’s just more of the “I hadn’t written it yet and I’d rather just jump into the good stuff and start drawing.”

Of course, you probably all ready know this since I was yapping away about it last night via Twitter.

Anyway, I hope you’re picking up what I’m putting down. Enjoy the preview, I’ll hopefully have something by the end of the week.

So I treid something a little different today with the text. Think you can figure it out…? Yeah, so I decided to hand letter the text digitally. It turned out alright in my opinion. It looks like it all flows together really well but I’m not sure if I like the overall look of it. What do you think?

In other news, man, this comic was a pain to make… Since when ddi 6 panels take so much energy?! I used to do this kind of stuff 3 times a week but last night… man. Last night was a real struggle. Now, I made it through the initial inking relatively good but by the time I got to coloring. Ugh… I’d lost all momentum.

But enough of that crazy talk. I’m thinking of posting an article tomorrow about something parent related. Why don’t you come back then and check it out?

Hey everyone,

Don’t you just love kids? They can make a mess of anything you try to feed them and the term “don’t play with your food” isn’t even an option. Of course, it doesn’t help that Desmon is so excited about the sitaution. But at least we have some good daddy/daughter team work going on.

Hey guys, what can I say. Sometimes I just want to draw something and this is one of those days. A while ago (probably a year or more ago) my daughter was tasked with finger her cup somewhere in the house. She went on an epic adventure (or so I thought) while I waited on the couch for her return. When she finally returned with cup in hand, she failed to make the pass to me and thus dropped the cup. She was so proud of herself for finding the damn thing that I couldn’t get mad that she dropped it. If you’ve ever been in this situation before, I hope this comic made you smile.

In other news, my new comic project was officially rejected which is a good/bad thing. The good news is that we’ll be launching the project ourselves (I’m working on this with a writer). The bad news is that we’ll have to do all the marketing for it. I’ll keep you posted when everything goes live which should be in a few months if we’re lucky.
